Bahir Dar University Libraries was established in 1993, as one of the academic unit of the University, with an objective to serve and promote the teaching-learning process, and support the research and community service functions of the University. It consists of a central administration unit, six branch and two sub-branch libraries attached to different Colleges /Faculties/ Institutes of the University.
Location and Facilities
BDU library consists of the Stack room, Journal section, air-conditioned Students reading room, separate Staff reading room, Audio-visual unit, , Rooms for Librarian and other staff, Book binders, Skill lab etc.
Library collection in the Stack room has 124000 text books and reference collection. . The users are provided reading and photocopy facilities.

The library has started open access and developed it’s resources & collection required for community of the institution. The entire collection is decided to be electronically classified through ‘Koha’- open source library administration software with a suitable classification scheme. Present status of the library is well equipped by a flexible library system & trained library staff.
Very soon, BDU Library is going to provide the Wi-Fi internet network facility, so that users can be accessed from personal laptops in the Library, on campus, and remotely. Provide Institutional repository by which users can access e-document remotely. Going to subscribe CD-ROM databases, e-library facilities and The stack room is air-conditioned with CCTV CAMERA.
